About Bella-Oscar
'Because children’s rooms should be as stylish as the rest of your house…'
Ever since I was a small child I have been passionate about painting, drawing, fashion and colour. I was the girl at the back of the chemistry class, illustrating every page of her textbooks, the one who would paint all over her clothes, bedroom walls and even her furniture (sorry about your bedside tables mum).
After studying at Central St Martins School of Art I went on to pursue another dream of becoming a magazine editor and worked my way up to become Beauty and Health Editor at Vogue, where I left after having my first child.
In my hunt to decorate my children’s bedrooms with beautiful, timeless objects, I soon discovered that there was a distinct lack of stylish, affordable art for kids (save sugary, glitter laden monstrosities for girls and football pictures for boys), so I started to paint them myself.
As a result I had family, friends, and friends of friends badgering me for more, and unable to hand produce enough, I started Bella-Oscar (named after my children) printing my designs onto canvas.
Bella-Oscar is about stylish, contemporary art for children without the silly price tag. Created using a flattering colour palette and simple designs that won’t date, it will hopefully appeal to parents for their babies’ nurseries but also to the cool in kids as they grow up.
